More Than 60 DC Elected Officials Endorse Erin Palmer for DC Council Chairwoman

Neighborhood Leaders from All 8 Wards Come Together to Support a Brighter Future for All DC

WASHINGTON – More than 60 current and former local DC elected officials today announced their support for Erin Palmer to be the next DC Council Chairwoman. By working collaboratively, supporting neighbors, and uplifting common goals, Erin has demonstrated how to listen, lead, and make positive change – that’s why leaders across DC are proud to endorse her.

“I’m honored and grateful for support from elected leaders across DC,” said Erin. “We’ve worked together to improve our schools, make our streets safer, and ensure DC government delivers on its promises. We’re building a brighter future for all DC by supporting our communities from the bottom up.”

“We need fighters who are ready to take on the biggest challenges facing working families, especially Black and Brown communities across DC,” said Anthony Lorenzo Green, an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Deanwood. “I am proud to be in the arena with Erin everyday to make housing a human right and invest in evidence-based solutions to make DC safer.”

“Erin Palmer is a capable leader who brings honesty, fairness, thoughtfulness and passion to the Council’s top job,” said Robin Nunn, an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Dupont Circle. “That is why I’m proud to support and endorse her to be the next DC Council Chair.”

“Her experience as an ANC Commissioner demonstrates the knowledge and skills required for the role and will bring a new wave of accountability for our government as well as vital investments in community safety and working families,” said James Tandaric, an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Van Ness/Forest Hills.

“I know Erin to be an effective, accountable, and principled Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, as well as a dedicated community-builder and a persistent advocate for her constituents,” said Alex Lopez, an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Shaw. “We need Council leadership with a progressive vision for the District who is not beholden to special interests and does not play insider politics. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Erin Palmer for DC Council Chairwoman.”

The endorsement tally is the largest single list of endorsements from elected officials ever in a DC Council race and includes more than one out of every six Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners currently in office in DC. It also includes six current or former DC Council candidates from two parties.
