Paid Canvassers — $25 per hour

Erin Palmer is a mom, ethics lawyer, and dedicated public servant. She has worked in both federal and local government, expanding workplace protections and fighting for transparency and accountability. As an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Ward 4, Erin has advocated with her neighbors on issues that affect the everyday lives of DC residents – things like traffic safety, high-quality schools, and better public transportation. Erin is running to be DC Council Chairwoman to bring new energy and vision to the DC Council and to build a brighter DC that works for all of us. Learn more at www.erinfordc.com.  

We are seeking paid canvassers to work with the Erin for DC team to directly engage with voters across DC. Canvassers will be responsible for working with the day-to-day field operations (with the assistance of current staff and high-level volunteers); collecting and reporting data to meet voter contact goals; and supporting the campaign’s canvass, phone, and text programs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the campaign’s direct voter engagement in one or several DC Wards, including canvassing, phone and text banks, and events
  • Manage data and reporting of field efforts to track daily/weekly and campaign-wide voter contact goals
  • Support and coach canvassers to ensure they are following proper procedures, scripts, and guidelines while in the field

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (preferred):

  • Previous experience on a local campaign
  • Understanding of campaign software such as VAN and MiniVan
  • Demonstrated familiarity with DC politics
  • Commitment to collaborative, collegial, and respectful work relationships
  • Ability to exercise sound discretion and independent judgment

We are seeking a Field Director to work with the team to design a DC-wide field plan and manage all aspects of the campaign’s direct voter engagement across DC. The Field Director will be responsible for day-to-day field operations (with the assistance of current staff and high-level volunteers), including managing field staff; overseeing data and reporting to meet voter contact goals; managing the campaign’s phone, canvass, and text programs; and building a diverse, volunteer-driven field team. 

Location: Washington, DC

Compensation: $1,250 / week

Timeline: Early January-June 21, 2022

Reports To: Campaign Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Design DC-wide field plan and lead campaign’s direct voter engagement
  • Hire, train, and manage field team, including Field Organizers and organizing teams
  • Manage all aspects of the field program, including training, canvassing, phone banks, and volunteer recruitment
  • Oversee campaign’s awareness, persuasion, and turnout text programs
  • Build target voter universes to identify and turnout voters
  • Manage data and reporting of field efforts to track daily/weekly and campaign-wide voter contact goals

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Field Organizer, Regional Field Director, or Field Director (two cycles preferred)
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, training, and managing staff and volunteers
  • Proficiency in VAN
  • Demonstrated familiarity with DC politics
  • Commitment to collaborative, collegial, and respectful work relationships
  • Ability to exercise sound discretion and independent judgment
